Carioca Chile — Support

Last updated: 18 May 2026

Thanks for playing Carioca Chile. This page answers the most common questions; if you don't find what you need, reach out at pascal@peltriaux.fr.

How do I play?

Carioca is a 9-round rummy game from Chile. Each round has its own objective (two trios, a trio + an escala, two escalas, etc., ending with the Escala Real). On your turn you draw a card, optionally lay your objective once you have it, optionally extend an existing meld on the table, and finish by discarding. The round ends when one player "carioca"s — finishes their hand. Lowest total score after nine rounds wins.

The app has a built-in tutorial that walks you through your first deal — tap the Tutorial button on the home screen to open it any time. A quick-rules sheet is also reachable from the in-game ⋯ menu.

How do multiplayer rooms work?

Tap Start New Game → Host with friends to create a room. You'll get a 6-character code (e.g. X7K2QA) to share with whomever you want to play with. They open Carioca, tap Start New Game → Join with code, and enter that code. Up to 4 humans per room; you can fill empty seats with CPUs.

No accounts, no friends list, no logins. The room exists for as long as the game runs; if the host disconnects for more than 30 seconds the room is marked abandoned and everyone returns to home. Inactive rooms are cleaned up after 24 hours automatically.

How does iCloud sync work?

If you're signed into iCloud on your Apple device and the iCloud sync toggle is on (it's on by default), your settings, statistics, and in-progress solo game travel automatically between your iPhone and iPad. Pick up a game on one device and continue on the other.

To disable iCloud sync, open the in-game ⋯ menu and tap the iCloud sync toggle. Disabling sync leaves your existing iCloud data in place so you can re-enable later. Multiplayer games don't sync via iCloud — they're tied to their room.

How do I unlock unlimited solo play?

The first 3 solo games (against the CPU) are free. After that, a one-time Unlock Full Game purchase removes the cap forever for your Apple ID. Multiplayer games with at least one other human are always free, regardless of unlock status.

To purchase: when the paywall appears, tap Unlock and confirm in Apple's purchase sheet. The unlock applies immediately and persists across reinstalls.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open the in-game ⋯ menu and tap Restore Purchases. Apple checks your Apple ID for prior Carioca purchases and unlocks the app if it finds one. You can also restore by signing into the same Apple ID in the App Store — Apple usually surfaces a "Previously purchased" prompt on first launch in that case.

If Restore Purchases doesn't find your unlock and you're sure you purchased: email pascal@peltriaux.fr with the date of purchase and the Apple ID you used.

How do I change the language?

Tap the language picker on the home screen (the small flag / language icon in the header) or open the in-game ⋯ menu → Language. Supported: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and "System" (follows your device's language).

Accessibility

Carioca respects iOS's Reduce Motion setting (the deal-cards animation is dimmed when on) and follows your dynamic text size choice. You can also toggle haptics + sound + the deal animation individually from the in-game ⋯ menu.

I found a bug / I have a suggestion

Please email pascal@peltriaux.fr with: what you did, what you saw, what you expected, and your iOS version (Settings → General → About → iOS Version). A screenshot helps a lot. I'm a single developer; thanks for being patient if it takes a day or two to reply.

Privacy

See the Privacy Policy. Short version: no accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. Multiplayer room data auto-deletes after 24 hours of inactivity; everything else stays on your device (and optionally in your iCloud, if you allow it).
